GreenBytes and Pivot3 recently extended their iSCSI SAN tag lines by systems optimized in support of VDI storage. The Pivot3 rolled out its vStac VDI machine, which the seller claims can handle as numerous as 115 virtual desktops for each box. GreenBytes opened its HA-3000 iSCSI SAN machine by means of inline deduplication. The appliance is planned primarily even though not exclusivelyas storage for a virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI).
Senior associate for the Evaluator Group analyst company, John Webster, said that there is a requirement for these types of systems as VDI storage supplies are often unusual from those of the mainstream.
"Virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) can be complicated sometimes, particularly when it comes to storage," said by John Webster. "You need to know that you are optimizing the storage for I/O's as opposite to bandwidth as it really is an I/O-intensive surroundings. If you don't get it correct, you have underprivileged performance as well as the user experience is awful."
Pivot3 enlarges from surveillance market
vStac VDI of Pivot3 appliances use the similar OS as Pivot3’s vStac product so as to combines storage and subtract and is used mainly for video observation. However while the surveillance system is optimized for bandwidth, VDI system is optimized for elevated IOPS. The Pivot3 sees the vStac VDI system as an option to via blade servers plus a NAS or SAN.
GreenBytes goes further than SMBs
The GreenBytes HA-3000 is a dual-organizer version of the GB-X series so as to the startup started delivery two years before the SMB market.
The HA-3000 range from 26 TB to 78 TB of SAS drives and contains at least 200 GB of SSD cache and moreover four 10 GbE ports or 8 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE). The SSD is utilized as a cache to speed up read as well as write IOPS for Virtual desktop infrastructure deployments. Consumers can add further SSDs within the 3U 16-bay system.
