Patents awarded to Index Engines Unified Discovery Platform

A leading enterprise discovery solutions provider, Index Engines, made an announcement about receiving the Euro patent # 1 738 260 DE FR GB and US patent #7756837 for its technology behind Index Engines Unified Discovery Platform. The unique approach taken by Index Engines to process enterprise data has received the patent. The approach has made it possible to search and discover data across primary as well as secondary storage. This further validates that Index Engines is the leader in information discovery market and has an innovative way to index enterprise data.

The development of streaming technology for indexing was awarded with these patents. For the generation of a searchable index, the previous indexing solutions needed a random access to information. A platform that processes data sequentially has been developed by Index Engines. This enables electronic data indexing when the data flows to backup and also a quick indexing of network data at a speed of 1 TB per hour. This is the only solution of its kind available in the market to offer discovery, classification, management and discovery of offline as well as online data which also includes backup.

The ability of Index Engines to index data at a speed of 1 TB/hr enables users to search huge volumes of information in real-time as compared to the process when the indexing is still in the generation step. As much as 70 TB of enterprise information can be processed with the help of a single Index Engine. Repositories such as email databases and backup tapes store important and confidential enterprise data.

CEO and co-founder of Index Engines, Tim Williams, said that the technology of Index Engines was developed from nothing in order to provide enterprises with support for critical business processes like record management, eDiscovery and compliance. He also added that the technology used behind this solution provides access to enterprise data in such a way that no other product can be able to replicate it. By assessing the problems of enterprises and then developing a unique and patented technology, Index Engines has introduced a platform which enables efficient and scalable management and discovery of enterprise data.
