Replication Process for disaster recovery announced by Zetta

Provider of Enterprise Storage solutions, Zetta Inc., made an announcement that a one-step replication option of its On-demand Enterprise Storage is now available for the users. This service is available for the data centers of Zetta between Secaucus, New Jersey and Santa Clara, California. Because of the fact that many critical sets of data need geographic data protection, a point and click option has been provided by Zetta for this. This option provides instant protection without any need of cost and time to acquire and manage replication software, storage hardware, bandwidth and facilities.

Co-founder and CEO of Zetta, Jefferey Treauhaft said that the time and cost barriers for replicating data have been lowered by Zetta which benefits the customers in a very broad way. He also added that with Zetta’s solution, replication and disaster recovery is very easy and user friendly. Neither software nor hardware is required for the replication and recovery process as every byte of data is automatically replicated, synchronized continuously and is available at a secondary data center without any further action taken by the user.

The storage volumes of replicated data appear to be completely mounted and read-only. This allows multi-site protection for data along with sharing of the workload with data being accessible simultaneously from both the data centers which provides two times the performance delivered by a single volume. In case the primary volume is not available, the secondary one acquires the read and write status so that users and applications are enabled access from the secondary volume.

The other replication and recovery feature in the on-demand storage from Zetta is the lower recovery time. The solution supports an instant system which enables fast return to the operations for replicated data. The maintenance of data is in a ready to use format so that it can be mounted for immediate usage. With the replication process, changes made in the primary volume are continuously updated in the secondary volume which provides a smooth data consistency. The replication and recovery processes take place on Zetta’s end without disturbing the networks and servers of the client. Volume owners can check the replication information which includes the status of replication and the bandwidth being consumed by the process on the Zetta Storage Management Portal.
