Columbia purchased the database and data warehouse software from Teradata in order to acquire greater analysis and insights in business after consolidating data present on many existing platforms. The business partners of Teradata, Informatica, will be providing Columbia with the technology for integrating the data by connecting the company’s source system to the Teradata system.
The vice president for Data Quality Product Division at Informatica, Ivan Chong, opined that, Columbia has an understanding of how vital it is to manage data as a strategic asset. He also added that with the help of Informatica’s platform, the supply chain efficiency at the company is bound to improve by leveraging the warehouse solution from Teradata completely.
Columbia Sportswear which is located in Poland is a provider of footwear, outdoor apparel and other accessories. The implementation of data consolidation system in the company will prove to be beneficial because of its global supply chain structure and a worldwide customer base. The VP for mid-market at Teradata, America region, Ted Senemar said that the consolidation of data which was previously stored in multiple places into one single database helps in the maintenance of data consistency. He continued saying that information consistency plays a major role to gain the trust of employees on data assets of Columbia Sportswear. Senemar also added that the latest platform family provided by the company is bringing Teradata’s power to small, medium as well as large enterprises.
