IBM in talks with oracle, HP about data center trench warfareIBM is clearly taking intend at HP and Oracle in what it called “competitive displacements” in a progress that shows how hardware is an door point to selling new technology wares to clients. When Oracle acquired Sun Microsystems there was a good number of head scratching. Now it is clear that Oracle want to use high-technology hardware particularly its Exalogic and Exadata systems—to sell more applications and databases.

In other terms, hardware business of Oracle is all about software. HP also having a same plan except hardware lead to services deal managed print measures and other cross-selling opportunity.

For IBM, hardware—the second quarter was determined by servers and mainframes—pulls along services and software. Once on Big Blue’s platform, extra opportunities begin.

With these conditions, the perspective of IBM’s talk about the competitive landscape is remarkable. You can picture that IBM creating a swat team only focused on finding way to tear out Oracle and HP gear more powerfully. This hardware fight is about turf in project data centers as well as the firms that are developing cloud services. HP and IBM want to be the Monsanto of cloud computing.

On IBMs second quarter conference it almost seems like it was talking a small smack—it is for Big Blue. Wall Street is use to plenty of protest from Oracle about rivals, but CFO of IBM, Mark Loughridge, was returning some fire.
