Dynamic Solutions International (DSI), a leading world supplier of data storage solutions and all-encompassing pro services for companies and ventures, today made an announcement about the supply of their latest generation of Virtual Tape Library product offerings for data backup and recovery the DSI9003. The releasing of the new platforms offers an easier trail for growing solutions at the end user's site.
Using a typical platform and appearance, these units are utterly scalable to fit the needs for small company needs to enterprise-class disk-based backup solutions. The DSI9003 VTL series continues the future-proof design, with a broad range of redundant parts and a sophisticated control panel. Saving the investment in backup policy, the DSI9003 products leverage built-in high speed disk to provision virtual tape drives to backup servers that are attached to an iSCSI/IP or FC storage area network ( SAN ). There isn't any need to modify existing backup software configurations with DSI's products. In addition, the DSI9003 VTL version 2.1 is certificated with leading backup applications to maximize compatibility and guarantee fast, smooth deployment, and offers standard features that permit a user to replicate virtual tape volumes to backend tape and also offer optional features to provide data de-duplication, encryption and copying functionality.
All DSI9003 VTL brand use 4 GB FC and iSCSI attachment, GUI management and partitioning. The DSI9003 series starts with the DSI9253-V, offering 5TB to 9TB of uncompressed raw storage, and up to eight thousand virtual tape volumes. The following in the series is the DSI9303-D appliances, beginning from 12TB of raw storage and grow-able 48TB of uncompressed raw capacity, and is an all-in-one VTL with optional data-de-duplication. The DSI9303-D products have support for 64,000 virtual cartridges and match a selection of tape drives and libraries. With integrated, simultaneous data de-duplication, the DSI9303-D systems can store lots of terabytes of data and employ RAID6 data protection.
For companies requiring even larger capacities, the DSI9983 VTL is the biggest in the series and can be clustered into extreme availability configurations. With 64,000 virtual tape volume per node, the DSI9983 offers 128,000 volume supports in an active: active pair. Storage is supported through a selection of outwardly attached FC disk arrays from multiple sellers, or it can be offered by DSI in consistent cabinetry. To provide data de-duplication for the DSI9983-VTL, DSI9983-S96 nodes can be attached to the cluster through standard 4 GB FC SAN in N+ 1 redundant configuration.
“DSI continues its commitment of offering consumers high performance and optimum recovery that is secure and seamlessly integrates into existing backup systems,” said Chris Johnson, vice president of storage systems for DSI. “With this latest enhancement to our offerings, DSI demonstrates an ongoing roadmap to ensure investment protection.
With data backend tape copy, de-duplication, encryption, replication and scalability options that are unmatched by any other disk-based appliance in its class, our new version of the DSI9000 VTL exceeds the requirements of data-intensive operations for a high speed, tape-free backup.”
