Survey reveals that SaaS is gaining popularity among SMBs

According to a survey conducted by AMI, an IT research company, 750,000 small business enterprises are using the Software-as-a-Service model for integrating various enterprise applications in their business processes. Also, 20,000 medium enterprises are using SaaS in their business. These numbers indicate that SaaS solutions are gaining popularity among small and medium enterprises.

Software Partner Program launched by GoGrid for open source firms

GoGrid, a cloud infrastructure and hybrid hosting provider, made an announcement about the launch of its open source Software Partner Programme. According to the company, adoption of GoGrid as a core and basic technology platform for enabling leading open source answers to the cloud has speeded up recently.

By packing on-demand versions of software and leveraging the GoGrid Exchange, a novel cloud solutions market place, open source partners and firms alike are realizing increased deployments and use of popular open-source software offerings. It explains that by leveraging the GoGrid Exchange programme, partners may be able to share or sell a customised server image. Each image is available at the GoGrid community as a Partner GoGrid Server Image (PGSI), which comprises the partner's branding and technical information.

Cloud- based Collaborative Care Solution launched by IBM and Aetna

IBM and Aetna's ActiveHealth Management subsidiary jointly launched the Collaborative Care Solution, a new cloud-computing and clinical-decision supportive software system working as a SaaS with an objective to improve medical practices at infirmaries, helping them provide better-quality care at a lower price.
Our health care system needs solutions that can help physicians collect, connect, analyze and act on all the information available to improve a patient's health. Our solution makes this possible in real-time at the point that care is delivered", recounted Greg Steinberg, CEO, ActiveHealth Management, in an announcement. The enterprises will need to overcome resistance from doctors, who've been slow in adopting IT solutions even as the Obama administration has been pushing the medicare industry toward electronic record-keeping, awarding motivations and grants.
