VCC, a retail construction firm, decided to facilitate project managers with smartphones in order to give them access to customer data which eventually resulted in the attraction of new opportunities in business. VCC implemented an application called Mobile Edge which has been developed by IBM business partner iEnterprise.
The application was installed on BlackBerry devices for connecting 80 percent of the people managing projects to a customized customer relationship management solution. VCC also integrates Lotus Notes, Domino 8, and also another product from iEnterprise called the iEnterprise CRM. VP of VCC, Wayne Alley, said that the access to CRM data through mobile boosts the performance of all business processes.
Even though everything in CRM cannot be done from a mobile device, it has surely accelerated the access to customer data. Alley said that they can see what business has been done using a client in the past. Around 12 employees who managed projects turned to the iPad in place of smartphones for monitoring customer data on the wide screen of the iPad.
Mobile Edge has assisted VCC to diversify its traditional role of being one of the largest construction product managers. Alley also said that this application has helped VCC to attract clients from a field where VCC never worked b4. Employees can work efficiently so the investment in this CRM solution is indeed justified. Alley concluded that time being money, and the Mobile Edge solution gave quick access to customer information, organize it in a better way.
