Nlyte overhauls suite of data centre management

Nlyte Software has unveiled the latest version of their information centre performance management platform. Version 6.0 introduces nlyte Analytic, which includes a new dashboard and improves the reporting and predicting capabilities from the suite, the business said. The dashboard will present a one stop look for all information concerning power, cooling and capacity. The firm claims this may decrease operating costs and extend data centre life. The real-time visibility aspect will aid companies track how their data centre is performing, nlyte said.

The dashboard can also be customizable, meaning users can pick and decide on which metrics they see on a variety of maps, charts and gauges making use of a drag-and-drop interface. In addition to the new dashboard capability, nlyte Analytic is made up of two other modules, Report and Predict.

Report features a built-in BI engine that enables users to create, schedule, analysis, manage and distribute reports on information centre performance. A number of standard reports are also included, such as cabinet and data centre capacity utilization reports, forecast reports, equipment breakdown reports, power and network cabling reports, PDU and power infrastructure reports, service request reports, change reports and inventory reports, nlyte says.

Forecast allows companies to estimate and sculpt data centre abilities depending on historical information. The company says thus giving a much clearer idea of data centre lifespan and minimizes the likelihood of over-provisioning the data centre. The business also claims the suite can reduce data centre expenses by up to 20% per year and prolong its life by up to five years.

If you'll be able to measure what's going on inside the data centre," Rob Neave, co-founder and VP of IT and sustainability at nlyte told CBR, "you could possibly get the reality and figures about precisely what is going on there. Using the predictive capabilities you'll be able to see how much life there's left within the data centre and can possibly postpone buying new equipment.
