Intacct’s Software-as-a-Service model, the Project Accounting Application

Joining fellow on-demand ERP seller NetSuite, Intacct is taking aim towards services-based enterprises with a fresh product and partnership. Intacct's Project Accounting application will help services firms keep better track of worker project hours and costs compared against ad-hoc approaches done with spreadsheets or paper documents, according to the provider.
It also generates invoices based primarily on that information, and provides users with role-based dashboards that allow them keep track of a project's progress. Additionally, the software contains a library of reports and graphs tuned for services companies, letting them monitor baselines like "project delivery costs against plan."

TimeTrade Systems, a supplier of customer-driven online appointment scheduling solutions, unveiled the TimeTrade Appointment Cloud, an appointment scheduling SaaS platform, to meet the increasing demand of companies for high-throughput, cloud-powered, instant-appointment scheduling services and custom applications.
“Customer appointments are the life blood of American business,” said Gary Ambrosino, executive VP and COO, TimeTrade Systems. “TimeTrade lets companies move beyond the limitations of scheduling appointments through Web forms and outbound cold calls and phone tag by harnessing the power of the cloud to deliver instant appointment scheduling capabilities that are fully integrated into a company’s current websites and CRM systems.”

A new email archiving solution launched by Proofpoint

The Proofpoint Enterprise Archive product will support mixed environments that use various versions of Exchange including 2003, 2007 and 2010. The Software-as-a-Service ( SaaS ) arhiving release is intended to help businesses cut legal discovery risk and cost, while offering a controllable, searchable backlog of messages.
One advantage the latest offering has over other products is its automated storage of information in active legal holds, which means that human error is practically not present. Peter Galvin, chief marketing officer (CMO) at Proofpoint, told that employees shouldn't be spending excessive time on security, so automation can help them to get on with other business processes. “You do not want employees spending all of their time on security,” Galvin explained. “Security should be very light in the sense that it shouldn’t be a burden on the worker.”
The search function has been improved too, making allowances for complicated searches when searching for explicit emails. Galvin claimed other archiving products on the market don't place a concentrated focus on search capacities. This implies that the IT department is stuck looking through mails over a substantial period should a search task be needed, Galvin asserted.

Survey of Enterprises suggests that SAP was slow to introduce SaaS model

SAP customers want to use SAP’s Software-as-a-Service products and think SAP has been slow to start bringing them to the market, according to a survey by the U.K. and Ireland User Group. More than 50 percent of the 100 organizations surveyed opined that they could visualize their enterprises using SAP's SaaS products in future times. But 75 percent claimed they thought SAP was slow to start offering them, and 16% started using another vendor's software to meet their wants due to it. The user group has a total of 420 company members. There s some hope for SAP though. Most companies are still unwilling to employ mission-critical applications in the cloud now but indicated more eagerness to do so in the subsequent twelve to eighteen months. A chief driver was that many find it hard to create and meet service-level agreements (SLAs) with on-premise applications and assume the cloud provides a simpler alternative. They hope that in taking its time, SAP software will come to market with a strong product. “It didn’t surprise us that our members thought that SAP’s been slow”, said Craig Dale, Manager of the U.K. and Ireland User Group.
