Next Solaris listed for 2011

The words "OpenSolaris" didn't pass his lips once during Oracle's systems technique update, executive vice chairman John Fowler in control of server and storage did talk a bit about the way forward for Oracle's Solaris Unix alternative.

It has been more than 5 years since Solaris ten was launched, and Fowler related that next year's Solaris eleven will incorporate "a major set of upgrades" for main parts of the operating software, and would represent the sort of jump in technology that Sun Microsystems did with its O. S when it moved from Solaris nine to Solaris ten in Jan 2005.

Quest Completes Surgient Take Over – Producing Powerful Solution for Cloud and Server and Desktop Virtualization

Search Software, Inc. Today made an announcement about the completion of its purchase of private Surgient, a frontrunner in private cloud automation software.
