You will soon be able to secure your Android mobile phone with biometric security features, because Blue Planet Apps is all set to launch a BioLock app which will include facial identification and iris examination.
This BioLock Android app will reportedly activate facial identification to unlock your mobile phone. This could be useful if you have sensitive data on your device. This will use the device’s camera but it could sometimes be a little awkward unless you have an Android device with a front-facing camera like the HTC EVO 4G.

Most biometric systems use fingerprint identification till date, but new modern technologies are all set to grow, a new analysis revealed. This growth is supposed to be driven by the increased amount of awareness and reduced costs of the technologies that are involved.  
In a recently conducted web briefing, Navin Rajendra, electronics and security industry analyst for Frost & Sullivan, the prominent analysis and research firm, said fingerprint scanning was responsible for 73 % of revenue from biometrics in the Asian market last year.
The rest of the biometrics market had primarily adopted iris scanning, facial recognition, voice recognition and palm vein scanning at 14 %, 6 %, 4 % and 2 %, respectively.
