Alcatel-Lucent and Ixia recently made an announcement that Isocore, a leader in providing cutting-edge and latest networking technology validation services, tested and verified the Alcatel-Lucent 7750 Service Router's (SR) 100 Gigabit Ethernet (100 GE) performance, with the help of K2 100 GE test solution from Ixia.

The outcomes of the test validate the ability of these Service Routers to handle the capabilities required for supporting the scaling of high-touch service connections at 100 Gbps speeds. The results also show the viability of 100 GE for wide deployment across carrier networks, extending it beyond the IP core and within the metro and service edge, where the network and the services meet.

100 GE represents a ten-fold leap forward in capacity for service providers that require scaling their networks in an efficient way and with the minimum amount of risk for supporting the growth of traffic in the residential, mobile and business services that are provided by them. With the help of 100 GE, the transmission of an entire Blu-Ray DVD requires not more than 2 seconds.
